Mobility Unlocks Boundless Possibility

2025.11.17

In this article, we explore three remarkable new mobility solutions.

“What’s this cute thing?”

“This one is so cool!”

These mobility products were unlike anything we had seen before.

The more details we learned, the more incredible they became. Who would have imagined that Toyota was secretly developing something like this…

Finally! Mobility for all to enjoy

At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, which ran from Thursday, October 30 to Sunday, November 9, the concept for Toyota’s booth was “To You.”

It is about having someone in mind, a specific “you,” and figuring out how to bring them happiness. On display were mobility devices developed with this dedication “to you.”

They included the debut of three models in a new “Me” series, designed to be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of physical ability or age. In a future shaped by “you,” they embody the desire for cars to play a central role and deliver countless smiles.

We developed these to help ensure everyone can get where they want to go. The “Me” name stems from the way the devices allow individuals to infinitely expand their own possibilities.

All three share a vibrant, sporty yellow coloring. We want everyone to enjoy freer, more dynamic mobility. These are still prototypes and will continue to evolve.

First up: Walk Me

The concept for the Walk Me was to move “beyond the wheelchair.”

Instead of wheels, the Walk Me gets around on four legs, enabling it to seamlessly navigate steps and uneven surfaces both indoors and outdoors. The way it rises from the ground even resembles a person standing up from a traditional Japanese kneeling position.

It can move around freely, even in tight indoor spaces where a wheelchair would be difficult to turn. Because it can climb, you can go up a flight of stairs while seated or get into a vehicle outside. It allows for truly barrier-free mobility.

In the future, we want to make it possible to jump and freely go anywhere you like by coordinating with other mobility devices through voice commands.

Whereas previous walking robots were guided by calculating where to place their feet, the Walk Me takes a completely different approach. Having learned the right moves from some 10,000 motion simulations, it continues to evolve every day.

Next, getting sporty with Boost Me

This vehicle can be operated by simply shifting your weight.

By freeing up the rider’s hands, the Boost Me seeks to broaden access to wheelchair sports such as basketball and tennis. Creating a level playing field for everyone, regardless of disability, would be a game changer.

Just as technological advances improve the performance of para-athletes, we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to expand their own capabilities.

The seat is 3D-printed, since it needs to fit the rider’s body shape. We are exploring ways of making that part detachable so that the main unit can be rented out for people to play with at a low cost.

Lastly, the Challenge Me for outdoor adventure

This is an electric wheelchair that lets everyone enjoy extreme adventures, regardless of disability.

Riders support their body by gripping the handles and operate the wheelchair with joysticks. Think of it as the wheelchair version of a Land Cruiser.

From older adults to wheelchair users, this can help everyone enjoy hiking, fishing, off-roading, and other outdoor activities to their heart's content. The battery and control unit are housed in the cylindrical armrests, and have been waterproofed.

Everyone can discover their favorite places in their own way. The Challenge Me brims with potential for delivering renewed happiness to those who thought their days in the great outdoors were over.

Helping everyone get where they want to go. This mobility for all spirit continues to drive our development forward.
