Who’s that in the Subaru?!
Before the main Super Taikyu race, the SUBARU WRX NBR CHALLENGE 2024, which in June won the SP4T class at this year’s Nürburgring 24-Hour Race, performed its first demo run on home soil.

The Nürburgring 24-Hour Race-winning car flew around the Fuji Speedway course.
As the car returned down the home straight, sitting behind the wheel in a Subaru racing suit was none other than Chairman Toyoda, aka Morizo. In an interview after the surprise run, he shared the following comments.

As I drove around Fuji Speedway, I really enjoyed getting a taste of the Nürburgring that Subaru, Hideharu Tatsumi, and everyone at STI have been so committed to conquering.
In continuing to take on the world’s most challenging track, the Nürburgring, I think Subaru has, in a sense, been the national representative for Japanese carmakers.
At Toyota GAZOO Racing, we too have joined the effort, and I believe that many good cars have come out of Japan.
Having more companies that can take on these challenges leads to better cars, and with the support of everyone here at Fuji today, I believe that our drivers, mechanics, and engineers can keep making ever-better cars through motorsports. I hope that you will continue to get behind us.
In 2025, Super Taikyu will continue to serve as a stage for agile development in motorsports, contributing to ever-better carmaking and the pursuit of a carbon-neutral society.
